I can't recall seeing so much cold troughing over the South Island as over the past 5 weeks, most winters would not have this much.

I'm off to Sydney today for a short holiday, I see cooler southerly conditions there today but hot by Thursday

Ohh, I'm suppost to be helping with the clean up at the Waiora Scout Camp after the Geocaching Mega event this weekend. Tempted to instead hit the road & try to find some snowfall instead. Must confess to being concerned about high winds affected flights in and out of Wellingtown on the way home this afternoon.

Nice photo's guys!

Mount John at Lake Tekapo (1,031m) looks to have a dusting of snow at the top, but again this appears to have been a a non event for southern SC and North Otago.

That must have been a long time ago! I haven't seen a foot of snow on the ground in Tekapo in at least a decade.

Well, by "a lot" you mean around 150 metres.

Perhaps in drifts and piles, but not as even, settled snow. It's been a long time since this area has seen 30 cm of settled snow on the flat. Even the 2006 fall was no more than 20 cm at most, and even that was at higher elevations than Tekapo village. It's easy for people to overestimate snow depth, especially when they want it to be deeper.

seems to be an over represented amount of people on this forum from Tekapo who say it does not snow as much as it used to
you guys should all get together
