Only received 15mm here in Bryndwr so far with this event, went for a walk to the Diary before not actually alot of rain falling just very blustery. Although lastest few runs on the radar indicate that possibly the worst for chch will be from now on.

Was that just then Tony or about 20 minutes ago? you can see the low defined wrapping the southerly in on the radars now just starting to show.
Temperature is starting to drop more so now down to 6.8C, southerly ramping up abit more with very strong gusts at times borderline gale force.

SW quite gusty here and you can hear it, in an Orion sort of sense - "Booming down the flue of the AGA"
Nice to hear of the thunder reports from North Canterbury

Thats significant for Ashburton Deano. Could get 60mm + before shes over. 20mm here. That wind is howling at times. I heard a bang about 20mins ago so went to look on the road and a 30km/h sign with weights on the stand has blown over into the neighbours front fence.

No, it looked promising with a flurry of sleety stuff when I posted earlier this afternoon but right now it's 3.1 degrees, windy and just raining.

Yes that was a strong squall, my station wasnt far behind yours: got a gust to 80.4km/hr! That broke my all time record!
Radar for reference.....

Quite a few tree branches on the road atm.

checked the metservice temp. its at 4C or some what around that temp, wonder if it might drop anymore
Because as you say deano that snow level may come down bit lower then expected, if it does we really need it to happen now while we still have that moisture and rain band still ok.
Once that low moves away its not going to take long to clear tonight.

cheers: mike
