The Air pressure was raised 1.49hPa in 5 min, the temperature dropped 1.94°C in 10 min and Humidity dropped 8% in 5 min.

A lucky escape at Te Puke Holiday Park, the managers who lease it off council have been trying unsuccessfully for months including having meetings onsite with council officials to have some trees pruned. One of the branches they were concerned about broke, very narrowly missing two vans and clipping a cabin. Luckily it fell onto a walnut tree seriously damaging it but slowing it's fall. Could have seriously hurt or killed someone. When we heard it in the nearby radio clubrooms we thought a car had hit a tree or powerpole. The split they were concerned about was clearly rotting & full of debri.

Also, Pacific Blue 737 from Adelaide to Auckland I presume (A friend from SA had his family on it) landed in Tauranga tonight & they are busing passengers to Auckland. I presume Auckland, Hamilton & Rotorua International Airports had too high a cross winds for them to land at this domestic airport.

That was a huge limb alright,it would have been rotten for a long time so rather slake of them not to have done something about it long ago.

Well for the second Saturday in a row weve had thunder and lightning here and i was in bloody Waimate ,i'm guna be away for the next two Saturdays and they say things happen in threes

Still windy here and heavy chain showers passing by all night. Got woken to one with hail in the night smashing against the window. Currently a shower and an additional 8mm overnight taking the total here to 38mm for the event thus far.

Very pleased there is fresh snow, have some friends from the US just arrived on their first visit to NZ, Fresh snow on the skifields will be great as they are skiers, they fly into Dunedin on Thursday and are in Auckland at the mo, not sure of their full itinerary.

We received 42mm in the end with this storm. Heavy rain/hail shower moved thru about 220am, interesting that Jeffs Weather didn't pick up any of this, must have been very localised.

I can see a dusting of snow on Mt Herbert, as weather finally starts to clear. (snow on ground also at 700m above Little Akaloa according to webcam there)

43.1mm for this event here, with no hail, snow or sleet observed, just constant rain and the wind.

Totally different day, today, especially this afternoon, compared to this time yesterday.
No doubt the plants and whatever growth benefits from the sunlight after a day of constant rain.

28mm for the system here, i suspect some shadowing of the peninnsula was to blame at times although also where the low crossed in line with where the bulk of the rain was over mid/south canterbury.
Some very icy showers from about 1am with grapel/sleet in them very wintry like, may have been some brief flurries down to about 300m at the time i reackon.
Mountains look juicy with some deep looking marangs in areas, ski feilds will be benefiting majorly.

Err, shouldn't that be thumbs down? They were Waitomo Caving today, I'm picking it might be Rotovegas tomorrow, then perhaps Taupo and Ruapehu as they work their way down.

The thing to remember is that the snow won't last long. By this afternoon, much of the snow that had accumulated on the tops around here overnight was already gone. Even the heavier falls elsewhere will be gone soon in these temperatures, and with the NWer already blowing. Most of the fields had already closed due to a lack of snow, and their staff - temps and part-timers - were long gone.

Mount Hutt has a 2.8 metre base,snow will be there well into November.
Skier numbers fall well away at this time of the year,fields would run at a loss if they stayed open.
There is talk of Broken river opening for Labour weekend.
