Re: General November Weather
Cloudy here with a shower about, 13C.
A shortwave is crossing the upper North Island today and Gisborne looks to be the spot for a late day storm with small hail.

Re: General November Weather
From memory the drier than normal pattern for Auckland started mid September, Spring dryness will really show up in the Summer.
Current dewpoint is 12.5C with some upper level cooling today with the trough crossing but perhaps a lack of convergence for thunder risk around here.

Re: General November Weather

I see alot of cloud in the tasman at the moment, but not much is rain cloud at this stage
there could be some drizzle with the NWer on saturday
the last week has been 1C colder than normal too

Re: General November Weather
Some big clouds building to the north / northwest at the moment. They could be elsewhere down the foothills but cloud is obscuring the view.

Re: General November Weather
Just started raining here with some good cloud build ups to the NE. Was a weak Cb way in the distance to the South earlier on but now its clouded over.

Re: General November Weather
Lack in omphh today in most of those clouds though, weak cumulus humulus capping over at a certain level.
There was a shower before midday but apart from that its been fairly dry, it looks like the ranges of North Canterbury got the best activity today judging by the radars.
Thunder and hail chance simular set up to last Sunday actually for this coming Saturday in Canterbury, will be free to chase again.

Re: General November Weather
I got a text from Mikey alerting me to the situation. Some fists going up to the west of here but other flat cloud hindering observation. In the other direction there looked like a convergence going on with a return to NE but that looks weak with nothing much happening. Interesting with flat cloud and also vertical cloud. Good thunderstorm development if the surface temperatures were warmer?

The media don't take very nice pictures of us weather people, like Tony there with his baggy jeans,Aaron with his unshaven look, me with my hair that I got cut between thunderstorms and of course, not forgetting Bob McDavitt's 'Cumulonimbus' hairstyle.TonyT wrote:I would have worn nicer jeans if I'd known he was going to take a picture like that!

Overcast and raining at times today, cool conditions despite the rain coming from a warm front.
