Just been out to scan the horizon:
Mt Peel is obscured by dark grey cloud, with something inkier visible beyond that.
The breeze continues from the east & feels chilly, has strengthened to fresh. Low cloud coming across with it.
Temps have been up and down between 17 & 19 deg., currently 18.2. No longer sunny.

Not stating anything about chances for storms. I was just saying its not that cool and that the thick cloud is clearing. Sun shining brightly here now with lots of blue sky about now. Nudging 20 degrees.

Hearing frequent rumbles of thunder just now. I guess it's from that effort showing on radar, just across the Rangitata River.

Picking up sferics now. Must be a lot of internal cloud lightning as the Blitzy indicators are not picking up much :lol:
Southerly winds picking up before but NW above so looking like a convergency type of thing.
Unstable clouds here but nothing to "wet your Pants" over :D

Whoof!
Disconnected computer, then couldn't get internet to post via cellphone.
Lightning and thunder were a second apart for five minutes or more here at one point;
the storm progressed from south to north over us, so heading for Mt Somers - glad somebody caught up with it.
No hail here, just rain and wind;
temp. down to 8.7 degrees now.

Does it look like the winds indeed converged in South Canterbury like the Metservice said and now its all moving North as a "general" southerly and weakening?

Yup they did well with this call the Metservice. Expect some rain but thats about it. The way it is weakening it may not even be heavy rain either. maybe next time.

Loud thunder heard from here in Cashmere over to the NE. Quite a cell blown up out there. Hasty call to say we are 'missing out'
