There actually might be something there in the models now for Wednesday as that low wants to cross the central South Island, the only problem will be alot of cloud cover but its possible something could flare up.
Some showery activity with thunder might brush very close to the plains tomorrow night more so into Wednesday in the small hours, but there will be some good wildfire looking west anyway.

Warm start to 2013 today, 28C currently.

I see metservice have much of the south Island covered in there Thunderstorm outlook for tomorrow. Cloud cover and the very strong NW before the change will be an issue.

NW is gusty here at times now in the last hour. Gusts to 50km/h. Temp hovering around 26 with high cloud now.

I see the airport has average speed of 40km/h gusting to 61km/h at the moment.

Havent had any sun for most of the afternoon under thick high cloud most of it but the fohn effect is letting us stay around 28-29 degrees. 30% Humidity. Hate to think what the temp would be if the sun was out. We are starting to get desperate for some rain around here.

Yesterday was the pefect summers days with clear skies and little wind.
Looks similar today but some cirrus.
Grey Lynn should get 27C today.

Looks like a thunder/hail chance over eastern North Otago tomorrow but the instability looks weak. This would be a better set up if there was more moisture as the Sub Anatartic jet is over the South Island.

The weather is running hot and cold this month.

Inland South island places including Dunedin and Invercargill will top 30C on Saturday (35C in central Otago). The hot air is over the North Island Sunday.

Looking like a cooler SW pattern over NZ for much of next week. Will be blustery and cooler in areas exposed to SW including Auckland.
With the colder upper air there could be a convective risk over eastern areas.

Looking hot on Sunday, but afternoon heating might cause the wind to tend fresh SW in the afternoon. Otherwise might get 28C in Auckland?

The upper air will be very warm, we can get high temperatures without a northerly

Heading towards 26 here today, a few degrees warmer than Grey Lynn over in central Auckland. The southerly blows across land here, whereas it blows across the harbour further west.

Perfect sunny day, humidity 40-50%.

was 30 on the car thermometer through Cambridge at 6pm when i drove through. Car temp sat on 29 from Tokoroa through to home the entire time. I see the weterly sea breeze kicked in here and dropped the temp significantly but increased the humidity.

The temperatures given for auckland are exarrarated sp,no way it was 25 here today and 27 tomorrow seems rediculous with a SWflow in the afternoon.

We got to 25.5°C here at 1.36pm before the temperature started to decline. And it looks like the wind should stay S to SE tomorrow...

Certainly will be warmer tomorrow in Auckland, 27C doesn't look unreasonable.

Lots of thunder and lightning going around Timaru at the moment, woke me up!!
The weird thing is though there is nothing showing on the rain radar.
