having a nice shower at rolleston now, you could the see the weak CB thunderstorm out to the west before this shower moved over, so the storms have been coming close to the coast.

175mm here since 10pm last night.. and still rocketing down. Now, with thunder. Can't go South, can't go east, if this keeps up for a bit longer, nobody will be going North either.
You picked a good day to visit the West Coast Brian ;)

Some pretty Strong NE gusts hitting the side of the house here, No sign of any rain though. Things seem to be pretty dry up here with most lawns completely brown so some decent rain would be nice.

Raining here now slowly getting heavier with peeks of sunshine, dropped from 27C earlier to 23C now.
Awaiting to hear thunder as some of the lightning on the trackers looked fairly close even though it wont pick up every strike, nice smell out there with the warm grounds etc tropical like :D :D .

Yup big sporadic drops in the mix. Radar looks like it will give us a more prolonged spell of rain this time. Much needed!

The next line on the radar further back if you look at the South Island as a whole, shows a new band or front, this will be the southerly switch so it should be turning southerly in Dunedin now.
This Rain is boosting the humidity up, and once this lot clears there will be surface moisture which could be good for something thundery later perhaps _b

Anyone got any photos of the Rakia River? I see it's running at an impressive 3500 cumecs at the moment.

Rain has stopped for now 1.2mm in the gauge, humidity up to 78% light winds and some sunny intervals again.
Some mix of CU pushing up too quite fast though, still about 22C.

Hasn't been so bad inland a bit here in Reefton. only recorded 25mm of rain so far today. it hasn't stopped at all, but it's been mostly light.
Quite a bit of thunder around for the last few hours. only one that was really close.
