The max, mins and forecast for the first 3 days are actually done by meteorologists, the rest are computer generated.
I believe the manual editing of all computer generated max/min temps ceased more than two years ago to allow meteorologists more time to concentrate on other tasks

I really do wonder what the point of putting that data on the web site when they know full well that it is not accurate.

So the max/min's on TV as well are all computer generated?
Wow...
Surely there would be some moderation before it goes live on TV.

The temp forecasting from MS has been poor for a long and i can see why now,as Gary pointed out ,why?surly it cant take such to check them before they are issued.

I'm pleased that their picture/image server or whatever seems to be working much better (and I've changed nothing since I last was complaining).

I see that the forecast for Christchurch, today the 11th Feb, is for a few evening showers. I can't see it. Hardly a cloud in the sky?

Closest shower to us is either North or Kaikoura or Oamaru.

#-o Maybe, they are saying, that owing to the weather today, you must have a "few showers" later this evening before you go off to bed, as like in their forecast of how many layers of clothing to wear? =D>
There's some cloud coming up from the south now but nothing giving a hint of any rain.

I also noticed they have made it so that the rain radar animation finishes on the current one
thanks for making that change too (some time in the last month)

On the MetService website, the historical average monthly rainfall for September for Auckland Airport is listed as 64mm, seems a bit low?

http://www.niwa.co.nz/education-and-tra ... e/meanrain shows 105.1mm (which is more how I remember it) Altho it doesn't define "Auckland".

I think its only using the last 10 years rain data?
(as yes that would be on the low side)

I didn't realise there was a difference between Mangere and Akl Airport, aren't they the same station?

No, they aren't. At one stage, both were recording sunshine as well as the usual other stuff.
