Have you got a nylex(manual) rain gauge? You could do what David did on his VP2 by adjusting the tipping height to compensate for any difference.jamie wrote: Im beginning to wonder if in fact it recorded correctly and we just didnt have as much but from experience it seems had more than was recorded.
21.6mm of rain so far from this event, not too bad, it could have been worse....

I used to have an old nylex that did the trick when i first brought the station here from in town but it was recording perfectly and the cows destroyed it. I might have to go buy another to do some testing.

Winter-like southerly with showers on Banks Peninsula this morning, last few were heavy with brief hail.
Edit: hailing again now.

A clearing process here as the flow turns more south, currently partly cloudy, 22C, fresh SSW.

A good dose of heavy showers from about 5am onwards at home, but had been a clear day with passing clouds at work apart from a heavy hail shower with tiny stones around 2pm.
Im not sure how much fell as there must be a spider in the gauge will him/her out tomorrow

Little Tip: I got Placemakers, Garden Centre to order me a Nylex-1000 some time ago. It was way cheaper than what any other regular stockist was offering at the time.jamie wrote:I used to have an old nylex that did the trick when i first brought the station here from in town but it was recording perfectly and the cows destroyed it.
