Same here who said it was autumn? , 29C it was a light NE but now a strong gusty NWer has kicked in which i didnt think would make it to the coast today but it has.
Mid next week looks to be our first taste of winter with some snow down to 700-800m, with that im sure comes the chance of thunder and hail possibly.

Got woken by the sound of a shower this morning. Dewpoint now 16C.
Good for the lawn.
Looks to be the chance of a heavy shower or two developing over the western Waikato this afternoon.

Re: General March Weather
I took this photo (sorry about the kruddy quality and the delay in getting it up online) at around 3.20pm Wednesday from the Victoria Park Flyover bridge looking towards New Market. There was a small spiraling funnel cloud at this time at the left of the base of the larger cloud. It was very mobile and was disintegrating and reintegrating as it moved. Thought more people would have seen it. Quite a bit of convection around at the time.David wrote:Starting to rain here

Re: General March Weather
Another very nice day, not quite as warm as the 28 yesterday. 26 here today but once again it was no wind to speak of until just before 2pm. NE has come up last half and a half and temperature dropped to just over 24 degrees but still very nice.

Out at the Oxford A&P show today. Very warm and not much wind. Not bad for late March.

Re: General March Weather
There was a good crowd out there today, lots of people. I did poke my nose into the shearing but didn't stick around for long. Didn't see the whirlwind, must of been after we left as it was rather calm and not much wind.Richard wrote:Didnt see ya John, did you come over to the shearing? and yes it was very warm also there was a big whirlwind that picked up gazebo and sent it flyingNZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:Out at the Oxford A&P show today. There was a couple of whirlwinds during the afternoon, there was another one about 3.00 that went over the shingle area in front of the club rooms,it picked up a heap of dust and a few kids balloons .NZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:There was a good crowd out there today, lots of people. No sign of that sky here. It's all flat cloud. But does look like it will be hot once the sun burns off this cloud.spwill wrote:Nice to see the towering cumulus clouds around Auckland this morning and a few showers are developing, plenty of moisture in the air, 17C dewpoint, temp 19C.

Re: General March Weather
Some weak showers forming at times over West Ak (photo), radar shows better showers to the north.
