The southerly knocking on the backdoor now but will it be productive? On and off light rain here today, the first for ages, well since some drizzle on the 7th.

Re: Rain and thunderstorms for St. Patricks Day
I see another heavy line of rain moving over the Auckland city area
and looks like the next line of showers is getting more organised too
this humid air mass is dropping its load finally over the hills around the area, and on the NE/NW wind convergence line (and the shower lines have slowed down in forward speed alot now too as the low center has filled alot and moved right onto us
good stuff
we might get another 10mm yet overnight

Still dry here apart from some light spots coming in, the rain from earlier has since dried up on the ground surfaces.
Cooler southerly picking up but an impressive looking rain band over south canterbury coming up some quite heavy falls in there .

make the most of it,looks as if nothing on the 10 day forecast till the trough/s from the cooling south tasman undermines the tasman highs.

Re: Rain and thunderstorms for St. Patricks Day
Only just started here half an hour ago and just light thick rain at the moment, the band seems to be breaking as it heads north so maybe not as much from this lot as first thought.
Although tomorrows nights rain return should be better up this way.

Re: Rain and thunderstorms for St. Patricks Day
Well. The rain did deliver but the thunderstorms didn't.
Most places got a good drop today, thanks to ST. Patrick, whereas some didn't.
Imagine if it rained Guiness, or Murphys, or Beamish?
If it rained Smithwicks, or some that other ale I tried in Ireland last year, I would run away

Re: Rain and thunderstorms for St. Patricks Day
Only 2.1mm here so far looks like parts of the north island did better than expected but not sure the low lands of the west coast did vey well out of it tho with my folks at kumara only up to 14mm so no much help for the water tank with around 680L gone into it and 20000L to go before full.

Heavy rain peaking at over 50mm/h woke me up then after it eased off saw a flash and heard a rumble of thunder about 15 minutes ago.
