Wonderful :x
Have ordered a new one from Davisnet NZ, should be here by tomorrow afternoon apparently
Don't throw the old one away!, I'd like to see what happened to it, probably repairable as a spare too if it's not hard potted.. highly unlikely the sensor is faulty, very likely moisture has worked its way into the pcb and connections.. I ended up not using a pcb at all and just having a sensor, with a filter cover, on the end of a cable and some silicone around it to moisture proof. I have a test pcb from another project you can plug the davis sensor into and see the readings while experimenting which is handy..

I never considered moisture buildup - sounds pretty plausible given the recent weather and high humidity. I took the PCB out and there was a drop of water on one corner beside the black layer covering the board. So you may be right! I blasted the thing with the hair dryer (on the cool setting) for a few minutes but it hasn't fixed it. I guess that would be expecting too much though. I'll bring it in overnight and try again tomorrow morning...

Very little wind here and a balmy 22 degrees. Loving this return of warmth. In for a reasonably lengthy mild period it would seem over the next week or so.

Yes as the low systems depart a NW/SW flow will get under way with milder temperatures, but also some troughy unstable weather for the country meaning brief cold SW changes at times and maybe some thunder chances _b :B .

Looks like back to the "Autunm Westerlies" like a couple of years back when the westerlies devoloped lots of electical activity in western areas with lots of bright lightning reflected here in fine conditions.

A fine day in Ashburton and Mayfield after mist and ground-fog 6am - 9am or so: then bright blue skies and some high clouds with the brilliant autumn tints made some very beautiful Anzac Day images to store away in the mind.
Presently 16.6 degrees in Mayfield.

Beaut day alright, i see theres a low/moderate risk of thunderstorms over mid to south canterbury this afternoon/evening.
Im not sure if there will be much perhaps a convergence factor there with such light winds being variable, its been light NE and Southerly now Westerly.
Into early next week its starting to look abit cooler and troughy ;-)

Another mild day here today. Very little wind like yesterday and just a tad cooler with 21 degrees as the high. Woke up to sunshine and then randomly some thick pea soup rolled in briefly before clearing to a nice warm, blue dome skies day.

What a joke the The Severe Thunderstorm Outlook was today. Canterbury had a low risk indicated this morning. I was surprised but sometimes I miss something in these very marginal setups. Then about 2pm they upgraded it to a mod risk along the coast from North Otago up to about Rakaia. Now I see last update at 6:22pm they completely removed any risk from Canterbury and across the country leaving the West Coast under a low risk.

I have this feeling that occasionally on public holidays and weekends the Severe Thunderstorm Outlook is produced by Junior forecasters. I think I've mentioned this before and was quickly told that no this wasn't the case but today's forecasts either show this or someone had a complete brain fade!

Would be interesting to know what they were thinking...

Will be keeping an eye on the trough Friday evening over the west of the North Island for possible isolated thunderstorms.

Agreed, 03, I've had the a similar opinion about MS forecasters around Christmas\New Year with regard to severe weather forecasting accuracy. Let's face it; Paul Mallinson is entitled to have annual leave!
