Just a smattering of light/moderate rain so far just cutting on 3mm so far, you can see a general switch with the warm front over us moving across from the North to south and a band of showers coming down from the East.
These will boost the rain totals as they can be heavy when they come in from the general easterly direction, so overnight and into tomorrow morning we could be seeing some brief heavy showers especially along those coasts unless they gain omph as they head over land.

The metservice forecast, and their maps are showing two completely different things. forecast says rain clearing evening although their maps are not showing any significant falls until evening! :?:

Not sure what next weekend's weather has to do with this thread?

32.2mm here for this event so far after another 7mm yesterday arvo and last night.

P.S. I see Whangaparaoa recorded gusts to 94 km/h very early yesterday morn and I think that 65mm for Akld quoted by Stuff yesterday morn might have been for way up in Warkworth.

P.P.S. Over 230mm recorded at the Coromandel's Pinnacles since Monday morning.

Radar shows the low is going to cross the waikato. Looks very neat on radar watching it all spin around the centre.

Had to look at the radar when you said that... I was like "what showers?" - as we have had no extra rain here since midnight. We've had 26.6mm total for the event here.

Yeah very patchy light but thick rain from midday but now a more more steadier rain, winds generally light from the SW and 13C.
The low is clearly defined on the radars with some classic wrapping going on near Taranaki, the rain band over us seems to be sliding from north to south through a channel from just north of the Rakaia river.
