Dry here, but like most pundits I expect reasonable to significant rain here in Chch and wider Canty later overnight and tomorrow

just got home from chch from being out for a lovely meal.
Come home to heavier rain in rolleston, interesting the SE wind direction and BP shelters the city alot yet in rolleston we are far enough to get out of that sheltering affect, good for snow then lol

It is actually deloping significantly southwest of the city, but not moving in this direction

As i say what you need to watch for is activity out in Pegasus Bay because thats the general area that its going to start streaming in from soon.
Looks like some good thunderstorms in the rain band about Blenhiem at the moment, and maybe offshore from Kaikoura.
Still dry here with 12C and the station now reads a positive SE wind direction.

good thunderstorm gone through blenhiem, as jase mentiond earlier, i can confirm that now as i have been chatten to a girl who lives in blenhiem, very heavy rain has accompanied those storms.

4.4mm so far today, 44.4mm yesterday for an event total of 48.8. Still coming down at about 1.5mm per hour. Not much wind. Not very cold.
