Going to be some big localised totals around the Auckland region going by this and the radar shows plenty more to come. I see Brian's station is already at 32mm with 19 in the last hour.

Given these two statements, and the fact I took delivery of my new 60D only a couple of days ago and don't have a lot of time to 'learn' it - can someone give me a heads up on what settings to use should I happen to go chasing

TIA
Hi Alan

Impressive thunderstorm over Conifer Grove (northern end of Papakura). Went from calm to NW upto 20kts, torrential ran with lightning and a crack of thunder the like I've never heard before! Another good flash just to the ESE towards Ardmore. Temp has taken a king hit as well, now 14C after being 18C at 4pm!

Yes, we've been getting thunder/lightning every few minutes or less over here - mostly IC stuff but a couple of real doozies - 18mm in the last hour or so (21mm today).

Had some distant thunder out West at around 1600 hrs.
Great to test out my newly build lightning detector which works great.
Who put the LED's on the lightning arrestor ?
