Going to be some big localised totals around the Auckland region going by this and the radar shows plenty more to come. I see Brian's station is already at 32mm with 19 in the last hour.

Moving around Auckland this afternoon, yes plenty of rain,has been some distant thunder.

Continuous heavy rain here in Grey Lynn with distant thunder now.
The electrical activity is out in the Hauraki Gulf, have heard about 10 rumbles this afternoon.

Impressive thunderstorm over Conifer Grove (northern end of Papakura). Went from calm to NW upto 20kts, torrential ran with lightning and a crack of thunder the like I've never heard before! Another good flash just to the ESE towards Ardmore. Temp has taken a king hit as well, now 14C after being 18C at 4pm!

Yes, we've been getting thunder/lightning every few minutes or less over here - mostly IC stuff but a couple of real doozies - 18mm in the last hour or so (21mm today).

I just noticed my weather station recorded its highest ever rain rate while I was out this afternoon - 213 mm/hr at 4.07pm!

Storm packed a 1.3hPa baro surge,11.8mm in 9 min and a 2.3°C drop in temperature when it hit. Nice!
