looks like it was triggered by convergence...NE and NW wind flows coming together
but that retracted north as quickly as it moved south

looks like its building back south a bit now so eastern northland, north auckland east, might get a bit more rain yet
21mm here today, over 100mm for the month already...

10mm in Grey Lynn in the last couple of hours.

We will have to see what pops up today. Convergence will set off cb's. East Auckland/Coromandal looks highest risk.

Was woken before 6am by a heavy shower.

Some heating today would make the day interesting, looking very cloudy at this stage though.

I reckon we won't get as much rain as yesterday - it's supposed to be easing from 2pm and the band moving down doesn't look too heavy.

if you have access to a 120km auckland radar image the band is actually quite intense.

I really need to sort out all the fence shorts around my house. Its making my one completly useless. We have found about 3 shorts which need fixing but there is one on a fence that we cant find which is causing most of the problem.

Just curious, how does one go about getting access to the 120km radar image?

The "free to air" radar seems to be showing some intensification up around the Hibiscus Coast area at 1.05pm

Still looking unstable over South Auckland but the rain/eastern thunder is on the way out. Cold conditions.

68 mm In gauge here since I emptied it at 6 pm yesterday + 56 from sat + 52ish from Sunday. Didn't have a measure with me at work today, but worked in the rain all day in parnell and it was only light to mod for most of the day.I'm pretty Sure there was a lot more at home in Belmont, only 5-7 km as the crow flies from Parnell,it looked a lot darker over that way and judging by the surface water on the golf coarse and sports fields around devo. I would love to see the last 2 days of akl radar animated.
* what ever happened to the tradies rule of "3 drops of rain on the rice paper and its home time"?!!

Wow! 68mm seems a phenomenal amount of rain compared to only about 15mm recorded by other WS's in your area yesterday. Are you sure it wasn't Tuesday evening that you emptied your gauge?

22.5mm here yesterday or 58mm for the last 2 days.
