Thunder risk for North Island for week starting June 17th
I was looking at the storm on the radar thinking that looks nasty. Interesting to see such a nice tornado. For this time of year that has to be rare. It's developed over land....not the warm ocean.

Cb junk killed our thunder chance over central Auckland.
Great to read the reports from other areas and a very nice photo via weatherwatch of that funnel cloud/tornado .

no decent showers through here yet. Really that hit and miss situation with these small squally showers. Hoping for a decent hail shower

Not much happening here either, quite a bit of sun actually. Hail is pretty unusual here so it would be a nice surprise

A single burst of thunder out to the west towards Titirangi to Blockhouse Bay, that cell drifted back out into the Manukau from Lynfield. Just half-hourly hail showers here in Henderson Valley.
What do a tornado and divorce have in common in Tennessee?

We just had a sudden icy, cold chilly squall of a blast come through about an hour ago with little bits of hail the size of a rice seed.... combination southerly wind and rain brrrrrrr

Re: Thunder risk for North Island for week starting June 17th
got hail through that entire shower. some were nearing 10mm but they were odd shaped. Often quite elongated and flat. What does that mean?jamie wrote:Ooohhhh love that cold air thunder sound. Such a different rumble to warm air rumbles. Its heading this way, so might get some decent hail
Temp now dropped to 7.0*C.

Lightning showing up off the west coast just now, finally a decent cell that looks on track to move across central/east Auckland for a change?
