Thunder risk for North Island for week starting June 17th

Unread post by jamie »

I was looking at the storm on the radar thinking that looks nasty. Interesting to see such a nice tornado. For this time of year that has to be rare. It's developed over land....not the warm ocean.

Cb junk killed our thunder chance over central Auckland.
Great to read the reports from other areas and a very nice photo via weatherwatch of that funnel cloud/tornado .

no decent showers through here yet. Really that hit and miss situation with these small squally showers. Hoping for a decent hail shower

Not much happening here either, quite a bit of sun actually. Hail is pretty unusual here so it would be a nice surprise :)

A single burst of thunder out to the west towards Titirangi to Blockhouse Bay, that cell drifted back out into the Manukau from Lynfield. Just half-hourly hail showers here in Henderson Valley.

got hail through that entire shower. some were nearing 10mm but they were odd shaped. Often quite elongated and flat. What does that mean? :-k

Temp now dropped to 7.0*C.
