General July Weather

Beautiful day so far in Glenfield. Currently 11.8 and sunny but a few beefy buildups to the East. The top has billowed even higher since I took the photo a minute ago.

I see on TV1 weather there was a fall of hail just north of Auckland.

A scattering of low topped cb developed in the afternoon.

I see you have had a warmer than normal July so far despite some recent cold days.( niwa climate maps)

A quite stable July here in Auckland so far, July is our wettest month in the averages

Must have been an upper level trough go through, some spots of rain about this morning in weak Virga looking clouds but also some weak mid level CU as well.
It looks like someone has pushed the repeat button in the coming week, although this low looks to be much larger than the last and sinks its fangs abit further south about this time next week.
Maybe the first proper snowfall will come in August like everyone ive been around has been saying.

Yep Storm Struck, looking at the long term models there is nothing big brewing until potentially early August...

That's good but I find those climate maps very inaccurate with little detail.
Once again its the warmer nights and not warmer days in general that make the month warmer so as most people are asleep at night its not really noticed.

I thought I saw a few spots on the ground but when I looked up blue sky seemed to be everywhere, must have dissipated very quickly. Very nice day now, 13 degrees with not a breathe of wind.

Good lordy, we've almost topped 19º at home! Blue sky, light breeze, few clouds floating around. Quite the change from 24 hours ago!
