Looks as though, July will start being mild with a westerly influence looking likely to start the month off :-$

Looks like spring has arrived early with a more zonal westerly pattern setting up in the models. The ski fields won't like the wind.
Severe gales as early as Monday!

And looks like a drier trend for Auckland too.

300mb jet chart for later in the week.

Never got gusty over here...
13.3kmh maximum gust, but from the south and just a 11.2kmh gust from the NW in the last hour, we even had a frost here this morning.

Interesting, some of the gusts would have to be at least 50km,but the south end of the Amuri plains does get more of the NW than up your way more.

Lovely sunny start to July here, currently 15°C. Nice to have some drier weather recently - less than 5mm here in the last week.

The weather is just :D :D :D !! Just shy of 16 degrees with blue dome skies, no wind and there is no winter chill in the air. Love it! What a start to the month.

Should be a couple of mild days for much of this week but then it's back to winter next week, when the back side of these NW's move across. July looks as though it might be a mild month with the "Roaring 40s"starting to make it's influence known. :-w

Still looking like a drop of heavy rain for the north tomorrow pm. A warm front/subtropical moisture crossing with up to 80mm in north Auckland/Northland by the looks.

GFS 3 day rainfall chart.

A new record for the airport was set on 15th July last year of 22.4°C - my own station reached 20.8°C that day.

Yes going to potentially get close to 20 today if the sun comes out soon enough. Blue sky to the south but thick high cloud to the North and West currently. Can see the NW arch however. Temp between 17 and 18 currently. I see Timaru has 19 degrees at the moment.

Looking like 30-40mm for central Auckland region as well.

Cant quite hit 20 here, its been trying over the past hour. Sitting between 19.2 and 19.5. I get the feeling July is going to be well above average temp wise.

Updated: Just hit 20 here over past 15mins or so. I see a weatherunderground station has hit 21.9 in Halswell, not sure exactly in Halswell where it is based or how reliable of a station it is as I dont get up to date with it but link is here:

Yep, I think July might be a record breaker, unless we get some seriously big cold fronts in the last half of July and some prolonged cold the next 6 days at least is looking extremely mild...
