Looks fairly active out there atm, hopefully it stays together….
The upper section (above Northland ) however has seemed to have died off.

Eased off at the airport now but another squall line inbound from the northwest. Hope I get to the car between downpours!

Sudden thunderstorm here 6am. 1second from lightning to thunderclap. Rain rate hit 226 mm/hr (new record for me) with small hail but it didn't last long.

Good photo spwill. I did have a go at trying to get a photo but too much rain and sheet lightning.

I see the dewpoint has dropped from 13C to 11C.

Yeah, nice show here, despite being obscured by the rain - 11mm here.

Reports of minor flooding around Akld and a house in Makarau, north of Helensville, was hit by lightning around 5am - no damage though.

I was woken just before 4am by some really intense rain and what sounded like a few small hailstones. I've lived in this house for 16 years and I would be fairly comfortable in saying that it was the loudest downpour I've experienced. I was quite worried about flooding. The thunder started not long after, some of it shaking the house. Kept me awake until 5.30am, at least. Can't believe the little guy slept through it. All the neighbours' lights were on!
