Thanks for that website Razor.Razor wrote:Arthurs Pass reprorts heavy snow to all levels. Chain essential, i would expect closure later. Clearing tomorrow. Check softrock.co.nz for webcam etc
Heavy rain through Buller gorge doesn't stop the council contractors from mowing the roadside!
More blue sky here in Reefton than I've seen elsewhere today (just a tad), mr11 playing on skatepark in summer shirt, but light breeze is cold. Lewis Pass tomorrow ...

Yes look to have taken all the weather forecasters by surprise.
Weatherwatch had 800m lowering to 500m at night I think in there forecast for today but metservice did have half that at 400m in a watch out yesterday.
Yes a person I know in Oxford at 210m says its snow heavy at times and settling, Cust at 136m has snow falling too.

Some form of shadowing here just on the coast according to the radars however its not exactly light rain either, patchy but steady no sleet or anything though.

Warm moist air mixing with cold southern air, pretty sure it is, considering all the moisture is moving down over canterbury from the northNZ Thunderstorm Soc wrote:I woodn't think so. This is a convective event
