Hopefully this system later next week will provide some wet relief for those places that need it?

Yes storms have fired up over North Otago and South Canterbury this afternoon, upper air is cold enough and I didn't really expect to see sunshine and onshore NE winds today either.
So could be storms in the coming hours.

Seeing some brilliant bolts of lightning in the southerly quarter, thunder 5 seconds or less after. Hard to tell which thunder belongs to which lightning-stroke now!

I've never seen cloud convergence on the Auckland rain radar like that before. It looks like some clouds are moving south east, while the others are moving north east...

Nice fork or Cg came down@ 7:21pm, just close to here, to the west. :D
3 seconds before the thunder although it wasn't all that loud and significant has regard to the lightning flash?
A bit muffled?
Anyway ,it was when the southerly come through round that time.
Steady ran then but now it has eased a bit and the winds have dropped down.
No hail here, thank goodness. [-X

Did anyone save it? It's gone now & would have been good to have been able to take a quick gander.
