Do the showers starting early stop the spring from being wound up by the sun? What makes them start early or later? Thanks.

full on sunshine here now
NNE wind increasing
clouds breaking further north now too

sea breeze likely to start up in the next hour by my reckoning
(sea temperature here is a couple of degrees above normal now)

Got a good spot at my place up on a hill to watch this line move in. Very clear skies here. Starting to get an anvil from a storm down pirongia way.

I think things will explode this afternoon.

In Grey Lynn, the weather has cleared here after a high overcast day. Lots of t/cu about. Temp just 22C.

Can see cb tops to SE.

Thunderstorm over the Manukau Harbour towards Seagrove/Clarks Beach, thunder clearly audible from northern fringe of Papakura.
