A beautiful day here after morning cloud burnt off. A little cooler than yesterday, with 24C, but it was certainly more humid today.

Yea that was a great looking shower. I saw the first signs of it at 4.30 with Tcu looking really good.

we had a sea breeze
and it was NE on the kawakawa coast line (I know because I drove through there at 2pm)
so was a good sea breeze convergence

Yea my graph shows the NE change to a westerly sea breeze and the DP jumped

I was in Dunedin yesterday and there was good Thunderstorm about 5.30ish with heaps of lightning.

oh, that article is so bad
it was for waikato ...pencil in the 20th the one fine day?
what about today?
sure there is showers in the forecast...but most will not get one and instead will have a fine day
same for the rest of the week...

They did have some qualifying paragraphs at the end, but when a lot of discussion/impression is based on the head line - I agree there's room for improvement.

I think there are enough forecasting knowledgable people on here to come up with a brief informative response. Get the right headline and it would be a worthwhile article.

Want to have a go?

Even if nothing gets to the newspaper, it would be useful to start a thread which ends up with a succinct, agreed statement. Then there's something to point people to when relevant (I'm weary of

Strong cold southerly went through just after 11om here with the gradual lowering of temperature.
I see the insects on the radar prior to the wind change

"Insect imagery" shows you the line of wind change moving north.
