The bolt looks about 10km away.

I played it back, thunder was heard about 5 seconds after the lightning. We were only about 1.5km from the planet. Listeining to the audio from the earlier bolt that I think prob hit it the thunder was about 3 seconds.

If sound travels 1 km every 3 seconds, then it would still take 4.5 seconds to travel 1.5 kms. :-k

I just remember the old rule "1 second = 1km" buts thats a very un-scientific rule!

I know crazy chase lol and to think I only drove 190km to get to the Planet Fonterra!! lol damn cant find the edit button on forum app!!

The general rule has always been that (depending on air-temp and humidity), sound travels 1 km every 3 seconds, or 1 mile every 5 seconds. ;-)

I have been slack in pics, but that cell that blew up over our house, funnel cloud and non stop lighting and thunder for about 30 mins, and large pea sized hail for a short time. It was nuts.
