Looks like the west coast has just lit up. Looking dark more inland now all along the divide / inner Canterbury 0_o

Just starting to get organised out there now, showers quickly blowing up even just NW of me here.
Wind trying to nudge around to the NE, still no southerly yet like areas south of chch have for awhile now.
Canterbury, home of good rugby and severe storms

Nice looking cloud-base just to the west of here, at the moment :smile:
I've got a very keen eye on it for anything rotary that may develop :-k

Sadly, it has now dropped away :|

Just a light shower here, virga present to the south towards Leeston.Dark clouds still to the west but no other activity to report.

Watching Trackside at the moment and Methven looks like they've been hammered with rain for the last half hour with no sign that's it's easing.

Massive hailstones here in Cracroft, and thunder. Quite incredible out of not much cloud above us!

EDIT and a funnel cloud!

Yup nice little piece of action to start us off, with more to come hopefully!

Just had a down-poor here! There was white spec on the radar in that ones development so no wonder it unleashed that hail.

Update: That storm has passed here but I can hear the hail in the distance hitting roofs! That's awesome!

Rapid and explosive development non stop thunder overhead very very muggy have some great pics for later. Hope the Xmas parade is done!

Yes definitely thunder every 5 seconds or so!
