the CB's we had here on sunday had constant thunder...was lightning in the anvil
maybe the same thing was happening

Interestingly, the storm that affected Howick on Sunday flung out CG after CG. Never seen so many in one storm.

I had the same thing in Bombay on Saturday. Pulse storms with no shear but intense CG lightning.

I see this mornings storm warnings from MS have now had a mod risk extended further north to near Seddon and the mod risk increased to high in North Canterbury.

My work today will take me to in and around Lincoln,bit closer to the forcasted severe area

I'm in Mosgiel near Dunedin so will keep a watch on things this side of the Waitaki River, however I expect the best of the storm activity will be north of the Waitaki

Was some CU bubbling away as early as 8am this morning by the port hills but looking to the south now plenty of high cloud has come over from the west....

We have issued the Metservice severe thunderstorm advice to the Waitaki community at large and updated the CDEM webpage at http://www.waitaki.govt.nz/ and our council Facebook page . Now we wait . Had a little light rain this morning , now sunny and mild

Soooo black here and have never heard thunder like it in Dunedin. About to smash it down (I think that's a weather related term)
