Just saw a Fiji A330 fly under the anvil from the Helensville cb - the aircraft was at 17,000 ft! Some good height to the structure.

Had 2 or 3 huge thunder claps just to the SW of here 5-10mins ago

Thunderstorm warning out for Auckland I see now.
I can see that CB to the west from here Richard steady shower showing up on the radar developing.
Canterbury, home of good rugby and severe storms

Awesome lightning show - I've seen about 7 CG strikes. Some of them only a couple km away

I've received a text from Civil Defence warning of thunderstorms in Auckland. This massive CB over the east coast is producing thunder right now! Audible from Glenfield.

The CB over Ardmore is slowly drifting towards Papakura, CG. Very heavy rain visible.

Loudest thunder I've heard in years here. Saw a CG come down so close it was amazing. Less than 300m I reckon!

Loud and frequent thunder to the NW of Rangiora, clouds just exploding in the last half hour. Might need both north and south island topic for the next two days storms as its all getting lost in this topic. :wave:

Been watching radar & TOA detector and thus far have not seen anything I'd consider within striking distance for me.

Fingers crossed for something active a bit closer in the next couple of hours.
