2013 summaries

Unread post by David »

Post your thoughts, summaries, statistics, or anything about the weather in 2013.

In Howick we managed to reach 1174 mm rain for the year... pretty near the average I would guess. Somewhat surprising given the drought in the first 3 months, during which I recorded only 53 mm of rain. Rainfall was fairly erratic through the year:

Highest temp was 29.6C, lowest was 0.3C.

My station recorded 762mm for the year which is about 120% of its average.

Highest temp was 33C and low was -3.2C. With an average of 8.3C it was a mild winter and only 17 air frosts were recorded during the year which is about half of the average.

A new gust record of 98km/h was set on the 10th Sept.

Yearly rain
2010 2011 2012 2013

June rainfall brought totals up . Pastures are very green currently with surface water still lying in puddles here and there .Is this the new norm?
