Getting windier, easterly gusting up to 50 km/h now in Howick. A dry afternoon with some sunny periods.

MS had the low's centre at 989 hPa at 1pm - Kaitaia has dropped by 2 hPa in the last half hr to 997 hPa.Manukau heads obs wrote:barometer down to nearly 1000hpa here already...
and yet the low center is supposed to be only 992?
must be deeper than that...

Re: Subtropical Low (Ex-TC June) 20-21 January
Jim reckoned that Kerikeri Aero had 35mm earlier today (and Cape Cape Reinga, 18mm), so 51mm about 8km further north at Alan's Kerikeri PWS seems quite feasible.
I'm also pleased Jim corrected that naive reporter who kept referring to this system as a 'weather-bomb'.
P.S. MS now have the low's centre down to 987 hPa at 7pm - Kaitaia down to 995 hPa.
2.6mm here today.

You mean 989hpa Brian.
Looks like a little bit of heavy rain Dargaville way but it will miss us I think. It was producing lightning out at sea.

Some elevated thunder over Northland this morning. Pity it missed here, we need the rain! Steady drizzle here.

MS had the low's centre back up to 988 hPa at 7am this morn and crossing Northland over the last few hours in an ESE direction.
Total of 9mm here so far…
P.S. I see Whangaparaoa recorded E'ly gusts to 104 km/h in the hour to 9pm last night.
