We got to -3.9 with fog thismorning. We dont often get frozen fog that is as cold as that was.

Quickly heading to zero at the moment.

I wonder how the official numbers compare to 30 May 2012. In Howick, Wednesday morning was only 0.7C colder than that day.

Yes, new record May T-mins recorded for Ardmore, Pukekohe, Whenuapai and Warkworth; lowest-equal for Akld Aero and 2nd lowest for Mangere.

I wonder how the official numbers compare to 30 May 2012. In Howick, Wednesday morning was only 0.7C colder than that day.

For most of the Akld sites listed in my previous post, T-mins were at least 1-2C cooler on Wednesday than their lowest for May 2012.

I think one of the coldest May mornings previously recorded for Akld during the last 100 years or so was in 1964, i.e. Mangere, Otara, Owairaka and Albert Park all recorded their lowest May temps that year.


P.S. Note that Ardmore, Pukekohe and Warkworth only have records going back to the early 70's.

Yes -4.4 degrees currently here. So 3rd overnight low where the mercury has dipped to or below -4 in the past 7 days. Also 6 of the past 7 days have dipped below -2. Another frost again tonight. A milder NW would be nice please!
