Re: General February Weather
Theres an interesting feature showing up for mid next week over the south island, the east coast could get some well needed rainfall maybe between 40-60mm variable for different parts of Otago, Canterbury and Marlborough.
Still a fair way out but would be great in a way

General February Weather
Interesting wind day today. Had a dry south east turn to a moist west or sw sea breeze for the afternoon (4-6) That was then over powered by the dry south east. My dew point shows the changes really well.

Re: General February Weather
We havn't had a humid summer in Auckland for a few years now.
The GFS and European differ on the movement of the upper trough mid week. EU scenario will give us better precip chances and I think EU will prove correct.

Re: General February Weather
I wonder if we'll get our first 30°C day today?
hit 28.1°C just before so it's possible, but I don't think we will.
this time last year we'd had ten 30°C+ days so we're due one.

Perfect summer day in Howick, mainly clear sunny skies, max 25C, NE sea breeze. Fairly comfortable with a 13C dewpoint

Re: General February Weather
The MS have me puzzled again but laughing at the same time , all the maps I am looking at point to steady/brief heavy scattered rain on Wednesday clearing for Waitangi.
Not as much as the models were showing yesterday of 60mm possible but a good 20-30mm atleast, anyway they only forecast drizzle for Christchurch .
Unless they are factoring in any sheltering but it will be southerly so shouldn't be too much of an issue and even so if there was more heavier rain inland then the city would still get moderate to light patchy falls.
Oh and they have a low risk of heavy rain reaching warning criteria on the weather outlook, must be the weekend shift eh

General February Weather
Nice cooling sea breeze arrived here not long ago. I enjoy the more moist air rather than that dry stuff. Its much nicer to inhale.

Sounds like a "left hand not knowing what the right hand is doing" scenario.
I've noticed that 'heavy rain forecasts' for here, usually results into drizzle or not much precipitation as well.

Re: General February Weather
Plenty of model variation for later this week/ early next week, will the high pressure zone across NZ keep the low pressure to the north out ?
Another lovely day, 24C, feels very much like summer is here now.

Re: General February Weather
Both ECMWF and GFS still showing a low moving down late-week, UKMO shows high pressure dominating. Metservice looks to be agreeing with UKMO at this stage
