suggests that out on the coast gets less a little less sun than in Hamilton and surrounds, however seems to be almost always sunny whenever I'm out there....that's affected by a strong degree of sampling bias though, tend to head out there when I think it will be nice

Re: General March Weather
Upper level cooling/divergence over the upper North Island later tomorrow. Maybe an isolated cb in the west?
Sea breeze convergence is weak to non existent at this time of year though.

Re: General March Weather
The pleasant weather continues, sunshine/cloud mix today 12-22C, dp15C
The shower risk for Auckland this weekend looks less good on the GFS, very much on track for a dry March

General March Weather
Can't see much rain for the rest of march. Looks like skiffy showers from the SW will be the best we get. That would mean we will be less rainfall YTD at the end of march than we were last year.
It's just unreal how this can happen two years in a row!!!

Re: General March Weather
Drought is not unusual for March.
Almost clear skies with 24C in Grey Lynn. Will be interesting to see if any heat showers can develop this afternoon.

68mm so far for the year this side of Auckland. The grass looks greener after the rain last weekend.
Yes, can a shower develop today, currently some weak sea breeze convergence over Auckland, 24C, dewpoint 14C.

Possibly another shower risk later tomorrow given upper level trough will still be there.

Re: General March Weather
I see the Airport missed the shower yesterday evening as well. Drier air over our area today will limit the shower risk but dewpoints look to be on the rise tomorrow. Looks like West Coast Waikato might be the spot for a storm tomorrow afternoon.

It's more than that. It's 3 droughts in 4 years. We have only had 2 summers since the 08 drought that have not been a drought I think. Il go back and look at the records when I get home.David wrote:

I'm now in Albury which is inland on the NSW/VIC boarder. We had a fantastic thunderstorm last night. It really was great to see very frequent, close lightning and nice loud thunder.

Yes dry air today. Not sure why the radio is saying showers. Overnight models have been for dry weather for Auckland today.spwill wrote:I see the Airport missed the shower yesterday evening as well. Re: General March Weather
Historical average for wet days for Waikato/Auckland is 8 days. A wet day is defined as 1.0mm falling.
I checked Mercer on the EW site and it has 6 wet days so far this month. There were only 4 last year.

Re: General March Weather
Light showers across South Auckland region now drifting across to Auckland Airport. Good radar returns from the showers moving in from the Hunuas.
