Re: General March Weather
Finished up with 17mm of rain. Temp dropped from 19 to 10 deg in 10 mins. Hail was interesting, a similar size to what we got in the tornado storm, and we got more of it, but the stones were round and smooth, not sharp and jagged as they were with the supercell. The thunder was remarkable for being virtually continuous for about 20 mins, rumbling all around.

Re: General March Weather
A welcome 4mm here overnight. Today's wind will probably dry it all up though!

Re: General March Weather
Quite a few decent showers came through last night in Raglan, more heavier than the Waikato Radar suggested.
Nice morning here with Sun and altocumulus.

Re: General March Weather
A fresh southwest wind today to dry up recent rainfall, cloudy morning/fine afternoon. Temp 15C -22C.
It has been a great March if you didn't need rain.

Re: General March Weather
Been pretty decent temperature-wise too. In Howick we still haven't had a daily max below 20C or a night-time low below 11C.spwill wrote:A fresh southwest wind today to dry up recent rainfall, cloudy morning/fine afternoon. Temp 15C -22C.

General March Weather
In my mid march has been awful. We had really cold temps at the start of the month. We had a whole heap of wind with Lusi and have had no nice days with low wind. Like today or example it was clear but this darn wind blasted away all day.
Bring on winter I say. I'm sick of droughts!

Re: General March Weather
I see Twizel/Pukaki has had big temp ranges in the last week with 0-26, minus 3-23 and 2-27 yesterday.
Good to see metservice has put a Canterbury high country under its rural forecasts showing Pukaki(which is Twizel), Omarama and Culverden. Be good to watch those temps this winter

GFS 7 day accumulated rainfall. A wet Tasman, a dry North Island!

Re: General March Weather
Seems to be the pattern NZstorm. Sea temps are usually 2 deg warmer in the NW Tasman. At least the highs are keeping well south. Is there time for another low from the north perhaps ???????

Keep you fingers (and arse) crossed for an unlikely ULT to pass over the area like what happened on MondayBradley wrote:Bloody boring here for the next 10 days, no lows, no wind, no rain, no cold fronts, no heat, no thunderstorms, just, well nothing forecast! Re: General March Weather
I've know what a upper level trough is but hadn't seen it abbreviated before funnily enough!! Yeah that would be nice but what chance do you give that actually happening?

Re: General March Weather
I thought 'ULT' was the more commonly used meteorological acronym for 'Ultra- Low Temperature'.

Re: General March Weather
It's a long way out, but both GFS and ECMWF are showing some unsettled weather around 7-8 April. Fingers crossed!spwill wrote:Death Ridge for atleast another 3 weeks I think , hopefully the rains arrive after Easter , not at Easter.
