Takapuna beach was quite blustery indeed, pushing me around constantly. Still going!

Looks like Lusi has fallen below expectations rain wise as well... some parts of Waikato have had less than 5mm!

yeah, it has been disapointing alright for rain in the areas that needed it the most
only 13mm here...
(eastern northland was not needing the rain as badly)
I am hoping for a sting in its tail....

a gusty ENE wind here this afternoon, but not unusualy strong
so a bit of a fizzer here
but hauraki gulf area got the windspeeds forecasted :)

yeah, wind forced high dew point air mass into those ranges...and you get the rain alright
the waitakere ranges did better for similar orographic rain

there is still some shower lines moving through north auckland I see..hopefully we will get some of that as the flow turns more NE

Haven't yet made 40mm and wind down to 10 knots now. Seems the worst may have passed.

Came onto drizzle here from 8pm.
I wonder if there be 80mm in the rain-gauge to be tipped out at 10pm tomorrow, ?

Yea the centre looks to still be near the top of the north island.

Some impressive storm surges down the east coast of the north island today. Wish we got the rainfall the guys near the kaimais got. 120mm would have been great.

As there is a blocking high developing to the east of NZ, this may have an influence on Lusi's demise?

I see good rain bands moving into north canty/chch from the NE
no sheltering from banks peninsular
so looks like CHCH will get rain off and on all day

wind swinging northerly here now, so the low center is only west of us now...ie 6 hours later than predicted

we are more exposed to any rain bands left now
a bit more rain here overnight, but only 15mm total so far

Thats a good gust at ardmore (48kts)
the ENE wind does funnel there between the hunua ranges and the manukau heights/whitford hills

I tell you what, GFS had the day for the ex cycone hitting the NI spot on (saturday), like 10 days out
that was amazing

Max gust at Auckland Airport was only 39knots!

Some instability in that front over Canterbury today which will locally crank up the rainfall.
