95mm total so far out of this. Was pretty windy too. Lots of branches down all over the place. Got absolutely soaked below the belt. Gore Tex kept my core dry and warm though. Will be looking at the leggings now.

Re: Ex-TC Ita affecting NZ - April 17-19 (Thu-Sat)
Wind is developing into quite a story here on the West Coast.
Westport still cut-off and power out in large areas and won't be connected until the morning at the earliest.
Several roads in and around Greymouth also closed, houses damaged etc.
Cobden (a suburb of Greymouth hit badly in 2008) is cut-off. Can't enter or leave as a house (or a garage I'm not sure) is thought to be about to collapse on the road.
while here in Reefton there is barely a breath of wind.
highest gust of 18.7 km/hr recorded earlier today.
Seen numbers quoted for of the ~1000 weather related emergency calls received up til 4pm 230 have been from the West Coast, while 290 from Auckland. When you consider the population of the West Coast compared to Auckland, that tells you that this is affecting a very large area and a lot of people on the coast.

Anyone in the Fairlie through to Tekapo area tonight? I am in Queenstown now but came through the Tekapo basin this afternoon with rain/sleet and very cold.
Currently a bitter southerly here I am thinking this cold edge will catch an advective event for a few hours tonight before the more moist sub tropical air shifts south, maybe a dusting in the Mckensie Basin.

Ex-TC Ita affecting NZ - April 17-19 (Thu-Sat)
Wild day! No chasing today as I had to work, pouring concrete... At snells beach, it was a dodgy drive up there to say the least.. I missed the high tide action but I took a few aftermath pics from around devonport.

Edit, amazingly there was very little damage to the trimaran, the wall came out far worse off.

Anyone know why the band of blue on the Christchurch radar is not moving inland but staying close to the coast about the city

System not delivering anywhere near the rainfall rate some experts were forecasting, would be very surprised to see over 40mm at the airport at this rate...

Re: Ex-TC Ita affecting NZ - April 17-19 (Thu-Sat)
Interesting weather with the storm surges in Auckland and very strong winds down the West Coast.
Been calm or light winds from the SW all day which makes sense because of the intense anticyclone moving east to the south of us. Raining here continuous from 11.47am.

Re: Ex-TC Ita affecting NZ - April 17-19 (Thu-Sat)
Some fairly serious flooding issues already in the usual areas of town. Nervous night ahead, remember the ground was well waterlogged before this system so it won't take as much as last time. Very windy now too suddenly
