Re: General May Weather
Not much happening here, weather's been pretty nice apart from a light shower around 11am.
Could do with some rain, I noticed earlier that some of our north facing gardens are getting a little dry.

Sowers have been isolated around here so far, quite a pleasant day, max 19-20C.

Re: General May Weather
Looks like the central Tasman Sea will be dominated by high pressure over the next couple of weeks, points to stable weather around here.

Re: General May Weather
An absolutely awful April and May down here, just utterly bloody dismal. The unanimous view is that it's the High Country's worst autumn in decades.

Yes, some nice Cb around this morning. Fine over the city but for some early fog in places.

good photoManukau heads obs wrote:nice CB over the warm water
Don't see that very much often in Canterbury, well hardly at all
Just thinking.
Auckland must be NZ's capital for thunderstorms, as good substantial TS form in the Tasman Sea and
constantly move over the Auckland area rather than any where else, in cyclonical flow of depressions that move across the country?
Lots of good Cb forms occur around the Auckland area rather than any other parts of the country.
The West Coast thunderstorms don't seem to be as spectacular with their cloud forms.

Re: General May Weather
The afternoon cumulus even produced a brief light shower here but the sun was back again from about 3pm this side of town.
Some glimpses of Autumn colour around here now, I see the Autumn colour show is still going around Queenstown.

Re: General May Weather
Potentially a Thundery Day on Wednesday for Auckland and Waikato with an upper level cold pool and assoc trough of low pressure. Will have to keep an eye to see how the forecasts develop.

Looking like a nice cold pool crossing! Should be good for a few rumbles/small hail.Tornado Tim wrote:Potentially a Thundery Day on Wednesday for Auckland and Waikato with an upper level cold pool and assoc trough of low pressure. Will have to keep an eye to see how the forecasts develop.
Just add that Canterbury could get a few rumbles/small hail tomorrow. If you can get the surface heating and some convergence that could do it.
