Forecast still looking quite good for some Thundershowers laced with Hail come tomorrow.
The LLCC of the trough of Low Pressure is forecasted a bit further south taking the stronger upper level winds further south as well.
Auckland should have a reasonable chance of getting some Thundershowers, especially with the stronger upper level winds around there.

Waikato/BOP also has a risk of a Thundershower laced with hail, any residual daytime heating will be off use.

The Upper level cold pool will pass the central North Island overnight on Wednesday/Thursday,dragging the risk of storms offshore on Thursday.

The coldest upper air is showing more of a land track now which is a negative, should still see a few storms with this system tomorrow.

MetService - Thunderstorm Outlook

Valid to: Midnight Wednesday 14 May 2014
Issued at: 8:38am Wednesday 14 May 2014

A shallow low and accompanying cold pool aloft are expected expected to move eastwards across the North Island today with scattered heavy showers and a few thunderstorms.

The main risk of thunderstorms is about the western North Island (mainly near the coast) from the Manukau Harbour down to North Taranaki until late afternoon, and also about Hawkes Bay from this evening. Elsewhere over the North Island a broad low risk of thunderstorms covers remaining areas from Auckland down to Manawatu as indicated on the chart. Any thunderstorms that occur will bring brief heavy rain, small hail and squally wind gusts to about 80 km/hr.

In the South Island, there is a low risk of one or two thunderstorms about Fiordland and Stewart Island this evening associated with a weakening frontal rainband.

No other thunderstorms or significant convection expected over New Zealand today.

Radar has been showing rain crossing our area for the last 15 mins, but it's not raining! Very strange.
