Overcast has lowered here and looks very "thick", also can see a pinkish-yellow tinge to clouds further inland.
2.9 degrees here. No precipitation.

It sure is borderline here with an intermix of rain and sleet, more sleet now than rain very big fat sleet drops too.

Windguru which is usually pretty good at predicting the snowline in these kind of events is suggesting there might be some sea-level snow for a time in Christchurch this afternoon...

Looks like the system is going to send its main thrust south of Banks Peninsula this arvo to me. ChCh escapes the worst.

This has to be the strangest snowfall i have ever seen to these low levels. Snow coming in from the east and almost a NE pattern very strange. The snow seems to be coming and going at the mo but struggling to settle now. The maps are all over the place.

Well it's clearing up around mayfield, was snowing lightly all morning but never settled. Not even close to the 10cm predicted. Bit of a non event for me

Re: Low-level Snow for Canty? - July 18-22
cleared up about lunch time making way for some sunny breaks, but now cloudy and cold with light winds. i see on the rain radar there is still some precipitation rolling by the peninsula.
If precipitation enhances again tonight with the temperture on the way down we might see a flurry or two.
The snow line is at 200m on the port hills i can see it from lincoln.

Wake to a few frozen flakes on the car's roof this morning
Most of the day was lovely and sunny here but was very dark to the south, clouded over about 3.00pm.
Certainly looking like a reasonable nasty system for Monday/Tuesday now in the models

Good to see Tony just didn't blindly follow the Metservice forecast, shows that someone with actual meteorological experience can draw their own conclusions instead of just cut and pasting...
