Freezing cold wind chill and rain just started here in Rakaia, coming from a southerly direction as far as I can tell. Just managed to get the washing in before it started. Where did the northwesterly go and mild temperatures for today?

Hmm what a weird day weather wise. Didn't expect that SW change to come in. Saw there was a rain band down south earlier to with unstable skies but since its almost like its evaporated before making it to chch.

Still looking good for sea level event with thickness hanging around the magic 522.
Has defiantly lost its moisture though for Canterbury so I expect it will be short and swift. Going for showers here first around midnight then slowly turning to snow before becoming lighter showers early Friday. \:D/

Talk of some sleety showers around here for tomorrow.. it happened a couple of years ago with blow over from the alps (full blown snow) but will see what happens, needs to cool down a fair bit more than it is now.

Pack the chains if you're coming over for the weekend, Melja.

Vey clear here so expecting a frost. Looks like Canterbury is in the doldrums at present. Windy over the banks peninsular so will feel cold.

Very windy here in Rakaia. Light moisture hitting the windows. Snow started falling in Timor a few minutes ago.

Was woken by the wind about half an hour ago, sounded quite strong.
Temp. has fallen from 5.6 deg then, now 4.2deg,
Whatever is falling sounds a bit rattly on the windows.
Going to be an interesting morning? ;)

The southerly change woke me at about 4.20 - temps had risen from near freezing to 6.8C ahead of it, now 2.7C.
