Unread post by jamie »

Sure does look like a windy week coming up.

I see at home I have had a gust of 82km/hr today.

Brian you must be expecting some decent winds throughout the week.

Monday looking like a good day for WSW gales in the north!

Strongest winds though will be over the lower North Island with severe gales/storm force early Monday there. But they are used to wind down there!

The front coming up the west of the North Island tomorrow will have some decent wind gusts with it. I think we could see a gust of 50knots here in Grey Lynn early afternoon.

Metservice's New Brighton Pier has just had an 80km/h gust. Pretty windy here in Burwood too. Interestingly its only 15km/h gusting 20km/h at the airport... :-w

Also just noticed theres a 2hPa difference across the city, thats quite unusual over such a small distance no?

Gone Southerly here too & blowing at a fair rate of knots! Had some gusty Northerlies last night with some very heavy showers/rain but didn't notice any lightning in the mix.

Radar not showing the extent of how heavy the rain is at the moment, certainly looks to be mainly a inland rain

It sure did rip snort through, just moderate rain here but looked impressive on the radar.
Winds easing now if we get some heating this afternoon there could be some isolated heavy showers with hail and a strike or two as a weak trough moves through the area.

The wind is making the high rise building I work in creak and move. 85km gust at Hamilton airport must be close to a record. I see Rototua airport has just had a 104km gust.
