Cold air is showing up over NZ next week, a spell of below average temperatures for many areas.

I see temps in Dunedin city have been around 22-23C for most of the night/morn and 20-21C in Oamaru town.

Norwester keeping things warm here. Temp stayed at 23 all night and back up to 26 degrees now. Very gusty now, not long til the cool change comes through.

W-NW breezes much of the day, but a gentle NE sea breeze developed just after 4pm.

Wednesday looking good for inland thunder/hail over the North Island given the strength of the cold upper level system and time of year. I am hoping the system has advanced enough onto the North Island by Wednesday afternoon to get the convection north of Taupo.

The show weekend holiday looks better with a good westerly system coming in but still looks cooler than a normal Nwer
