Re: Possible T-storms Otago/Canterbury - Nov 3-4
Just had some sporadic drops here in Rolleston mixed with pea sized hail, convection going up and swirling bases too. Still southerly but that will drop off as we enter this afternoon, my pick is north canterbury Hawarden area for a chase so we will have to keep in touch Richard.
Good risk of decent hail today and a funnel or two, perhaps a tornado risk as well

Days like this I want a surface NE on the coast. Metservice would go high risk on the coast aswel with large hail. Who knows. . Might swing NE or Its wishful thinking

Re: Possible T-storms Otago/Canterbury - Nov 3-4
MS have also upgraded today's severe risk from low to medium…
MetService - Thunderstorm Outlook
Valid to: Midnight Tuesday 4 Nov 2014
Issued at: 2:33pm Tuesday 4 Nov 2014
Updated early afternoon: includes moderate risk of Severe Thunderstorms over inland parts of the South Island.
Scattered heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms have developed over inland parts of the South Island from Nelson and Marlborough down to Otago, including the Main Divide and Westland. These thunderstorms are slow moving, producing localised heavy rain and hail. In general, rain rates are expected to reach 10-20mm/hr with hail of diameter 10-20mm, but there is a moderate risk of a few stronger cells becoming SEVERE producing hail of diameter 20-25mm. These showers and thunderstorms should ease into the evening hours.
Over the North Island, scattered showers are affecting many districts, with a few heavy showers and isolated thunderstorms in Wairarapa. There is a moderate risk of further thunderstorms there this afternoon, bringing locally heavy rain and hail.
Outside these areas, there is a lower risk of isolated thunderstorms this afternoon and evening from inland Wanganui and Central Hawkes Bay down to Fiordland and eastern Otago.

It's rather cold in queenstown! Looks like cold showers about. Nothing to note on the flight down. Was expecting some big Cb's

Just had a glance at the tekapo webcam on Mt John. Appears to be a major hailstorm settling around the northern end of Lake Alexandrina, amazing pic!

I jumped up on the roof here in North New Brighton to give any of you out there an idea of what's happening out west right now. Looks sick!

The sound of thunder now to the north of here, possibly resulting in the dark cloud mass moving north coming across this convergence zone?
