Looks to be a few showers.spwill wrote:Hopefully a great day for NZ Cricket on Tuesday
If so, and no game happened, NZ would go through with highest run rate.

A low end shower chance but not a wash out., there will be a game. There is a reserve day anyway.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
So two days of rain is not going to be our pass to the final.
Lets just hope its not one of those classic disrupted duckworth lewis Eden park games where one team is unfairly disadvantaged by the weather.
Come on NZ!

Bloody typical, biggest sporting event in NZ for 4 years and they have to schedule it for Auckland, where rain affects play all too often. Meanwhile the majority of NZ is bathed in sunshine

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
the rain bands are clearing through the auckland area slowly this morning
there is a weaker rain band to the west of northland but that should stay north of Auckland city
but having said all that, there is now alot of moisture in the air and if a NE/NW convergence wind change develops then the City could get a heavy rain band move through late in the afternoon
but having said that as well, its currently NE wind here and so no sign of a NW wind change,....as the low is going to move over northland....so keeping a NE to east windflow of the aucland area...the more east that goes...the drier the city will be
just my thoughts

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
Its fine in Auckland now but the dewpoint is 15C which does point to a shower risk. As Brian suggests an E/NE will keep afternoon showers over West Auckland.
Thankfully the upper trough passed through overnight and is moving away.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
Yet another great cricket game at Eden Park.
Unlucky with the late showers but they helped NZ against a great SA team.

Re: Cricket World Cup weather
I was surpised rain did spread as far east as Eden Park
it looked to have been falling from the cloud sheet associated with the shower over the eastern Waitakere area?
It was clear and sunny here with a SW wind change...so I knew that was going to push the shower off...which it did in the end
