A House in Henly Road, Mt Eden has had a fire which is apparently related to that lightning strike, not sure if it got hit or it was a power surge. Power out in that part of Mt Eden.

It's still pouring here. Heaps of surface flooding about. Yet to get worse too.

Some good thunder being heard, long lasting from Intracloud. No lightning observed thus far. Been good seeing decent rain today, will be well received I suspect. Just saw first lightning, intracloud, about 2km North.

I'm starting to think 100mm is on the cards for many places in the Waikato.

Brief respite in a cloudy mild Nov. was followed by more cold months. Jan-Mar 2015 was warmer than Jan-Mar 1992, and we don't have Pinatubo effects to factor in this time.
I thought the winter of 92' was near average for Christchurch as well but it actually turned out to be in the top 5 coldest winters recorded at the airport since records began in 1954
That's why I just quoted 7SS as NZ overall was nearer normal. The real image for the country was of a very long winter because of the cold autumn and spring.

Rained out here, Ben with 4.3mm overnight.
Probably not shown on the Rakaia Radar as that has been out for much of this week. :(

Was expecting rain Friday evening as it was forecast to develop, but without radar I couldn't tell if or when it was going to reach Chch.

I see Hamilton got 103.4 mm yesterday and Tauranga 53.8mm, a good soaking down there.

A trough to cross NZ at Anzac weekend but Anzac morning looks okay for most, the prefrontal flow should give a mild am across much of NZ

The NW wind kept it from not going any lower than 15deg overnight.
The rainband moving up the South Island will yet again die out before reaching here  looking like we will go into May still in drought.
