I see met service are now going for sea level snow over Banks Pennisula in there latest warning. Chch is the edge of BP. Could see some snow if the showers get wide enough.

AREA/S AFFECTED
Banks Peninsula
FORECAST
Snow showers are expected to become heavier Monday morning and lower to near sea level, with significant accumulations higher up. In the 24 hours from 6am Monday to 6am Tuesday expect around 20cm to fall above 400 metres, 10 to 15cm down to 300 metres and lesser amounts to near sea level. The heaviest falls are likely Monday morning and afternoon, when 10 to 15cm could accumulate above 400 metres in a 6 hour period.

I don't know what you've been looking at. Their current forecast for tomorrow:
Fine about the City with strong cold southwesterlies. Sleety showers developing about Banks Peninsula early morning with thunderstorms possible. Significant accumulations of snow developing above 300 metres and southwest gales, severe gusting 120 km/h in exposed places.

They never said that there'd be snow any lower than 300 metres in Christchurch/Canterbury. Banks Peninsula is the only part of Christchurch region that is higher than 300 metres! And the forecast still has snow for Banks Peninsula tonight and tomorrow.

We had a short snow shower two hours ago. The ground is dry and the temperature is down to 3 degrees in the city so it looks like snow will settle easily when it kicks in especially as the snow looks to arrive just on dark here. Wind chill is awful today haha.

It's not all over yet for us inland, a little more build up in the radar just south of Timaru.

On another note I just drove back from christchurch where it was raining moderately, and by the time I was just inland of Rakia at about 120m ASL it was only 1C and sleet/snow
