Matangi Weather Station Upgrades - 2015

Unread post by Tornado Tim »

Well its been a while since a Weather Station thread has popped up:

I have relocated and upgraded the Matangi Weather Station to a 24 Hour FARS today with an upgraded Temp/Hum sensor (more accurate with a new SHT chip). The Location is now literally in a open paddock.

Will be converting the older station to become a Grass Temp/Hum station with 12 hour FARS tomorrow. (ISS at Grass level).
I have also upgraded the Anemometer, its a bit lower than before but more open.
The Location/Height of the Anemometer will change eventually to get me to save enough for the whoppingly expensive tiltable 10 meter meteo mast (unless anyone around Hamilton can do one for cheaper than my quote of 2K from Scottech Instruments!).- actually I would really appreciate anyone to see if they can beat that amount.

Plans also coming for a Soil Temp station due to donation by a local produce company :)

Then to get the Station Blue for Blitzortung to replace the System Green.

Then Replace/Upgrade the Server - At least OS wise (Get it off Server 03 which will be unsupported soon, a pitty as its a rock solid Server OS).

Goodness me, Weather is an expensive hobby, but then again I wouldn't pick another one :D

Will post pics soon.

The Grass/Surface Temps are now on Matangi Weather, will be excellent to see when we gets frosts :)

Extras, not much Jamie. I repurposed quite a bit, but there is a spare Anemometer should anyone need it in an emergency (I still have to take it down) and a ISS PCB Shelter box with Solar Panel- bit weathered but works well.

Thanks for the comment guys :)

Awesome. You just need 15cm and 30cm soil temps now.
