Is that for the winter weather or their winter forecasts?
Haha was thinking the same thing =D>

Foggy here this morning. Hopefully some sun today after yesterday's grey skies.

Agreed, most of them I can't answer accurately because of the poor selection of answers available...

WeatherWatch should do that poll again at the end of August and campare the results, Winter has been a bit mixed here but you would have to say quite a reasonable Winter so far

We have had cold damp air stuck over Auckland last day or two with, fog/cloud with no wind.
A change of air coming in tonight ahead of the major trough system for early/mid next week

Same for Dunedin, by fair much more accurate than metservice. Although a rope attached to a wall would be more accurate than metservice some days!

Granted it must be hard trying to forecast for the whole of NZ as the climate varies do greatly from locality to locality. Living were I do I can have fog or low cloud and 10C while Dunedin will be 15C and bright sunshine. You learn quickly to forecast the weather yourself when you live in NZ. :-)

I think with El Nino Canterbury will get plenty of W/NW days between now and Xmas. Expect a warm spring.

Auckland had a ghastly day with rain and a max of 13C.

Yes. I think the cold days of winter are gone from now, which is quite good as people I have been talking to, they can't wait for warmer weather, after the severities of the coldness of June, I think that the warmer scenarios of what the models have been showing, I think a warming trend is likely.
Phew, what a long sentence, just like the ones that Michael used to post on his postings?

There is the potential for mild weather in Auckland tomorrow if we can get some brighter weather. 18C if the sun breaks through.

A cold upper level system crosses the country Tuesday and will be supportive of some thunder/small hail in the west and north.

Talking with Aaron last night and remember back to 1998, he mentioned that he remembers storms almost fortnightly.

the current rain radar is cool for the auckland/northland area
shows an upper level rain band and a more surface based rain band (both going in different directions and one going over the top of the other) :)

Should be an interesting Spring with a strong El Nino, expect a mix of weather, could easily be a very cold month still to come during this Spring.

Tuesday has been looking like a potential thunderstorm/hail day for western NI, cold upper level air with a decent sea track.

Looks like the last high for a while this week.More like a spring "equinoxual" setup with less snow/more wind , warmer in the east for sure. Going to be wild and wet on the west of the S Is for a while.

Being in an area that gets lots of NW wind it can be a bonus this time of year, not the best place for those who suffer from the 'mad dog NWwester' though

Yup, prolonged warm spell looming for the foreseeable future here in the eastern starboard. Suspect it could curtail some skiing activities before too long

Was out at a meeting a few nights ago, and the general thoughts of the farmers down here is that the winter so far, is the worst one in 5-6 years atleast in terms of snow and rain. The only other winter that sticks out is 2011 where we had 3 heavy snow falls from late July to Early November and a few smaller ones in between. I think this winter is the first 'real' winter we have had since then
