I see Auckland Airport picked up 64.8mm yesterday evening, much of it in short duration. The same Cb clump produced the thunderstorms over eastern Waikato
Whangaporoa showing 8.2mm

Re: General July Weather
A lot of frost damage in my garden from last weekend.
I'm enjoying the return to warmer weather, this incoming cold spell for early next week not looking as cold thankfully

I suppose air dropping 1080 poison across 700,000 hectares of conservation land and catchment area's doesn't count?petem8nz wrote:SnwAddct wrote:Interesting trail of some sort observed about 10 minutes ago in Auckland CBD..

Dew point around 3 deg, going to be a cool night to come especially if the wind drops.

Re: General July Weather
Light rain and 2.4°C here at the moment.
We even had a shower when it was -1.5°C this morning.
Now rain is nothing particularly exciting, apart from the ice skating effect it had this morning, but at that temperature we must be pretty close to getting some of the white stuff.

Had to chuckle, just as I was reading the metservice forecast for a 'clear starry night', we get our first shower of the day. Hail too.

Raining here too at the moment, although only light, but mind you is it the only rain that we have had today from the cold front that came through late morning.
By the way, it was a much more starrier night last night when the moon came in close to joining the separating Venus and Jupiter sequence.

Re: General July Weather
I see the forecast here now updated to the odd passing shower. Ground is wet now, any frost will mean black ice chaos in the morning in town. Lets hope the breeze stays up and keeps the worst of a freeze away

Started raining before then stopped only to find its just snapped to a sudden snowfall, going good, not settling.

Re: General July Weather
I thought my station was faulty this morning with it showing 5C (and dew point of around -8C) but the airport and stations in the city are at or below freezing. Checking wunderground there are similar readings from the two other stations in Templeton plus several in the Rolleston area... Seems to be due to a very dry WSW here
