Yeah.... I might take photos for a job and have a fairly decent setup. Those pics are 25% scale too, full size is stunning detail.

Took those on a Nikon D800 with a 17-35 2.8 and a 24-105 4.0

Some inky cloud + white shreds coming up to my south-east; saw another lightning-flash from that direction also.

Was surprised to see lightning at home and not just a flash in the cloud from that Cb that was off the coast at Kaitorete Spit going by radar.

Not yet because it hasn't made it this far inland yet, it's very close though and only 1C. Looking at the radar I feel like I could be in for a nice wee dump, quite heavy and very slow moving

It appears to be sleeting or similar in Dunedin at present, judging by webcams.

What's it doing in ash? The radar is showing large red area close to you? Must be getting some sleet at the least

Currently about 3.3 degrees here which is about 1 degree to warm from when we usually get snow, but lots of activity starting to show up on rain radar

Hard to tell with street lighting, but cloud appears to have lowered and there is a hint of fine drizzle in the air at the moment. (The large red area on radar is some miles east of town, towards the coast.)

Been quite abit of lightning from that cell off the coast tonight, a fair amount of hail accumulated on the ground in Ashburton going by photos I seen.
From the reports coming in its actually snowing below 100m so fairly close to sea level even on the coast east of Ashburton.

Nothing in Rakaia yet. Our street lights have only just come back on after that thunder earlier on. Here's hoping we get snow here tonight.

Yes, very pretty, lawn white, traffic beginning to make that hissing sound along street. Feel sorry for any young livestock.
